Abstract

Human is a social being and his social behaviour separates him from other organisms. Support is a basic need for the development of a person properly. A support system can help everyone to complete their tasks effectively by providing a motivating and conducive environment. It is a psychological or physical assistance derived from social relationships, plays a crucial role in alleviating psychological stress and enhancing social adaptability. In this study, a survey was conducted on a sample of 579 pre-service teachers studying in the Colleges of Education located in Chandigarh, Mohali, and Panchkula (Tricity). It was found that pre-service teachers exhibited an average level of social support. These results indicated that female pre-service teachers had statistically higher social support scores than their male counterparts.
