Evaluating the Outcomes of Technology-Enabled Digital Learning in NEP 2020 Implementation: An Empirical Analysis

This study evaluates the outcomes of technology-enabled digital learning within the framework of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, focusing on how digital platforms, ICT tools, and government-led initiatives contribute to educational transformation in India. As NEP 2020 positions technology at the core of curriculum reform, assessment innovation, and inclusive education, an empirical analysis becomes essential to determine the extent of its practical impact. Using a structured survey of 400 respondents—comprising students, teachers, and institutional administrators—the study captures measurable patterns related to accessibility, digital readiness, usage of platforms such as DIKSHA and SWAYAM, and perceptions of digital learning effectiveness. Secondary data from policy documents, national reports, and existing research further contextualise the findings within broader digital education trends.
The results indicate that digital learning has enhanced content availability, improved instructional flexibility, and supported personalised learning models aligned with NEP objectives. However, disparities in infrastructure, device ownership, internet connectivity, and digital competence continue to challenge equitable implementation. Teacher preparedness and institutional support emerge as critical determinants of successful technology adoption. The study highlights both the promise and limitations of digital transformation under NEP 2020, emphasising the need for targeted interventions to strengthen digital ecosystems, reduce access gaps, and ensure meaningful integration of technology across diverse educational settings.
